Information We Collect

PlainCU collects minimal data. We use privacy-focused analytics (Umami) that does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. We track page views, referral sources, and device types in aggregate form only.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

PlainCU uses the following:

• Theme preference: A single localStorage item stores your dark/light mode preference. This never leaves your browser.
• Google Analytics (GA4): We use Google Analytics to measure traffic and engagement. GA4 uses cookies and may collect device identifiers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google AdSense: We display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google's DoubleClick cookie enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google Consent Mode v2

PlainCU implements Google Consent Mode v2. By default, analytics and advertising signals are set to "denied" until you interact with our site. Google may still use anonymized, aggregated data for measurement modeling. No consent management popup is currently shown, we rely on privacy-by-default settings.

Your Privacy Rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar privacy regulations, you have the right to know what personal data is collected about you, request access to or deletion of that data, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may be presented with a consent dialog for personalized advertising in compliance with GDPR. California residents may opt out of the sale of personal information under CCPA. Third-Party Links

PlainCU links to external sites including NCUA, government agencies, and related portals. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

Data Source

All credit union data on PlainCU is sourced from the NCUA 5300 Call Reports, public domain government data. We do not collect or store any personal information about credit union members.

Editorial Independence

Content on PlainCU is compiled by our editorial team: raw data from the NCUA 5300 Call Report, FFIEC aggregate releases, and CUDATA public releases is transformed into readable credit union profiles by our continuous editorial pipeline, validated against the source before publication. The PlainCU editorial team is responsible for editorial standards and corrections.

We do not accept payment, sponsorship, or promoted placement from credit unions, banks, or any covered institution. Our only revenue source is contextual display advertising served by Google AdSense, advertisers do not influence which entities we cover or how we present data, and they do not receive preferential placement. PlainCU is informational only and does not provide financial, investment, or banking advice (YMYL).
